Filmmaker, writer, and illustrator Jasper Kim crafts narratives that resonate with audiences by exploring themes of resilience, self-discovery, and empowerment.

Originally from Korea but raised in the Bronx, Jasper Kim (they/she) is a storyteller at heart. They honed their skills in photography and video art at Parsons and Eugene Lang College, culminating in their graduate thesis video art piece, Celebration, which earned recognition with the 2014 Sekou Sundiata Award for Outstanding Creative Project at the New School.

Following their academic achievements, Jasper transitioned into narrative filmmaking to connect with a broader audience through an accessible medium. They have directed, produced, and edited multiple short films, including Millie, Sunny, Tongues, and The Reading, which have been showcased at various festivals and organizations nationwide.

In response to the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, Jasper reignited their passion for painting and drawing, prompting them to broaden their creative scope to encompass writing and illustrating children’s books and graphic novels.
